Privacy Policy

FORGE: Level Your Life ("FORGE", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, with whom it is shared, and the rights you have over your data when you use our iOS application.

By using FORGE, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Data (via Sign in with Apple)
Name — optional, only if you choose to share it via Sign in with Apple.
Email address — optional; you may use Apple's Hide My Email feature, in which case we only receive an anonymous private relay address.
Firebase Authentication User ID (UID) — a unique anonymized identifier generated by Firebase to recognize your account across devices.
1.2 Game Progress & Character Data
Username, character level, experience points (XP), Gold, Gems
Six character attributes (Strength, Intellect, Discipline, Charisma, Endurance, Wisdom)
Streaks, Forge Heat value, Badges earned, Visions completed
Cosmetic items owned (profile frames, title colors, themes)
1.3 Productivity Data
Habits, Dailies, and To-Dos you create
Task completion statistics and history
Focus Timer sessions and total focus minutes
1.4 Technical Data
Device identifiers used by Google AdMob to serve advertisements (free tier only). You can opt out of personalized ads in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
Subscription receipts processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment information.
1.5 Focus Shield (Apple Screen Time / Family Controls)
Focus Shield is an optional feature that lets you block distracting apps and websites during focus sessions. It uses Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks (Apple Screen Time APIs).

What we collect: Nothing. No app names, no website URLs, no usage statistics, and no time-tracking data ever leave your device. FORGE never sees which apps or sites you select.
What is stored locally: Your selection of apps and websites to block is stored on your device only, in iOS UserDefaults, in the form of opaque tokens managed by Apple's FamilyActivityPicker. These tokens are not human-readable identifiers — neither FORGE nor any third party can derive app names, bundle IDs, or website URLs from them.
Mode: FORGE uses Family Controls in .individual mode (personal self-management). FORGE does not use any parental-control or child-monitoring functionality and does not require a parent/guardian Apple ID.
What is blocked & how to lift it: When you start a Focus Shield session, the apps and websites you selected are temporarily restricted by Apple's system-level Screen Time APIs. You can lift all blocks at any time via FORGE → Settings → Focus Shield → Clear All Blocks, or by revoking Screen Time access for FORGE in iOS Settings → Screen Time.
Network transmission: Focus Shield data never leaves your device. No blocked-app lists, session timestamps, or app-usage statistics are transmitted to FORGE servers, Firebase, AdMob, or any third party.

2. Why We Collect This Data
Core app functionality — to provide the FORGE experience (task management, character progression, gamified rewards).
Cloud sync & backup — to synchronize your progress across multiple devices and protect against data loss.
Leaderboards & social features — to display rankings and friend lists if you choose to participate.
Anti-cheat — to detect and prevent manipulation of leaderboard standings.
Account management — authentication, account recovery, and account deletion.
Notifications — to send optional reminders for habits and dailies (only if you enable them).
Advertising — to display ads in the free version via Google AdMob. Pro subscribers see no ads.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
All account, character, and productivity data is stored on Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the europe-west6 region — Google Cloud's data center in Zürich, Switzerland. Data is protected by Firebase Security Rules and encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

Focus Shield selections (blocked apps/websites) are stored exclusively on your device in iOS UserDefaults and are never transmitted to any server.

4. Who Sees Your Data
4.1 Other FORGE Players
If you opt in to the leaderboard (see Section 6), the following information becomes visible to other players:

Your username
Your character level, XP, and rank
Your current streak
Cosmetic items you have equipped (profile frame, title color)
No private data — email, name, task content, habit details, or productivity statistics — is ever visible to other players.

4.2 Service Providers
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) — infrastructure provider. See Firebase Privacy.
Google AdMob — for ads in the free version. See Google Privacy.
Apple — for Sign in with Apple authentication, subscription processing, and Screen Time / Family Controls APIs (Focus Shield). The Screen Time APIs run entirely on-device; no Focus Shield data is shared with Apple or anyone else. See Apple Privacy.
4.3 No Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The only advertising in FORGE is served by Google AdMob to free-tier users, and you can disable personalized ads in iOS Settings.

5. Data Retention & Deletion
You have full control over your data and can delete your account at any time:

Open FORGE → Settings → Account → Delete Account
Confirm deletion when prompted
When you delete your account, the following happens immediately:

All Firestore documents associated with your UID (character, tasks, habits, statistics, badges, visions) are permanently removed
Your Firebase Authentication account is permanently removed
All locally stored data on your device is wiped
Your username is released and removed from the leaderboard
This action is irreversible. We do not retain backups of deleted accounts.

If you cannot access the app to perform the deletion, you may also request deletion by writing to mxf.business@gmx.ch from your registered email address.

6. Consent
FORGE works fully offline. Cloud sync, leaderboards, and any data upload to our servers require your explicit, opt-in consent. You are never opted in by default.

On first launch (and any time you can revisit this in Settings), FORGE shows a consent dialog asking whether you agree to:

Sign in with Apple and create a Firebase account
Upload your character progress and statistics to Firebase Firestore
Display your username, level, XP, rank, and streak on the public leaderboard
If you decline, FORGE remains fully usable in offline mode — all data stays on your device only. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account in Settings.

7. Children
FORGE is rated 13+ in the App Store and is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at mxf.business@gmx.ch and we will delete the account immediately.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / Swiss DSG)
As FORGE is operated from Switzerland and uses servers in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/DSG):

Right of access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
Right of rectification — correct inaccurate data
Right of erasure — delete your account and all associated data
Right to data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
Right to object — opt out of leaderboard participation, notifications, and personalized ads at any time

9. Anti-Cheat & Behavioral Analysis
To keep FORGE fair and to protect features such as the leaderboard from manipulation, we use automated systems that analyze how you interact with the app. This analysis looks only at usage signals — in particular the timing patterns of your task completions, how frequently identical or rapidly repeated actions occur, device and server timestamps, and statistical anomalies in your gameplay.
This analysis is used exclusively to detect and prevent abuse — namely automated play (bots or scripts), manipulation of reward mechanics, and circumvention of our security measures. It is never used to profile you for advertising or marketing purposes.
The resulting analysis data is kept in a separate, access-protected area of your user record, used only internally for anti-cheat review, and automatically deleted after no more than 30 days.
Right to explanation. If your access to the social features (leaderboard, shop, friends) is restricted automatically, a reason code (worldAccessRevokedReason) is stored in your profile. You can request this reason at any time and contest the decision by contacting mxf.business@gmx.ch; a human will then review your case.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use of FORGE after an update means you accept the revised policy.
